The most important development is the fact that the detective and special branch Chinese police have gone over almost entirely to the Japanese. This is of inestimable help to the authorities who are able to trace out the former employees of the Government and able to obtain information regarding almost everyone în Hongkong.
Quite a mmber of Chinese police have been sent to Canton, The Japanese have advertised for police and have sent some of these recruits overseas. In Hongkong the average Chinese Policemen is little better than a bandit end the squeeze rackets have if it is considered possible inordased,
Chinese Police are used in the Naval Dockyard. It is reported that some 500 clerks have been enrolled in the Water Police. The police launches continue to be used by the Japanese. The Chinese crew are unarmed. One Japanese officer accompanies each launch which are fitted with two machine guns of unspecified type,
The number of men employed is given as 2000, about 75% being members of the old force. Hongkong area is caïtrolled by Inspector WONG KIN and Sgt. Major YU MUK. In Kowloai the No. 1 is TSOY YU KOW. The Chinese Comissioner of police is TSE FU NGAU formerly a herbal eye doctor with a practice on Nathan Road.

WIRELESS.
It is reported that the Japanese are building a large transmitter D'AGUILAR for the purposes of Jamming short wave stations like San Francisco, possibly Chungking which has a large audience of both Japanese and Chinese.
All British Army wireless sets from "Ridge" stores such as Wireless Sets No. complete pack and No. 9 sets, wavemeters and all accessories shipped in early February.
Reports already show that at the present time both Chungking and San Francisco are being jamme d. San Francisco jamming is much more effective. Australian Broadcasts can be picked up well on occasions.

Most refugees are now travelling to Kukong via Canton. They obtain ticket on the FAT SHAN now named NAM HƠI MARU for about H. K. 20 and can proceed to Kukong in ab 14 days. The Japanese continue to attempt to establish business connections and are of course operating through their two Banks the TAI WAN BANK and CHING KAM.
About 20th April the Guerrillas attacked a Japanese post killing some soldiers and threw & bomb in the telephone exchange.
